Our journey
K9 and Co Adventure Camp is a family-owned dog day care, which started in Canberra in 2022. We are owned and managed by a second-generation pet care family, which has over 20 years in the pet care industry.
K9 and Co Adventure Camp started with the intent of providing a modern approach to dog day care and as a result, we have implemented a Daycare 2.0 approach that was first created by the Dog Gurus - Robin Bennet and Susan Briggs. Where traditional dog day care focusses on all-day play in groups of 30+ dogs with low staff to dog ratios, Daycare 2.0 provides more structure to the day by meeting your dog’s Nutritional, Occupational, Physical, Sensory and Social needs. Group play is held in smaller groups with a 1:8 staff ratio resulting in higher quality play, more interaction with staff and more fun for everyone. With Daycare 2.0, dogs are rotated into groups that best fit their play style, energy level, exercise requirements or other factors. Staff become more involved in providing structured activities, such as training games and art projects, which are far more fun and engaging for all involved. Dogs learn how to settle down during rest time which helps overcome some of the potential issues with traditional day care including:
Overly-exhausted dogs
Some dogs being uncomfortable in large groups
Over-arousal which can lead to more aggression and increases the chance of injury

We first tested this model in Canberra with the successful release of our K9 Nine Training Program - 9 essential behavioural skills and commands that are taught to our Adventure Campers throughout the day. We then implemented the model at our Brisbane and Sunshine Coast locations in March of 2023.
Our vision is to be leaders in K9 happiness, fun, and mental stimulation. We want to build a community of like-minded people who are genuinely passionate about dogs.
Our location
Located at 305-311 Boundary Rd, Narangba Brisbane. We are proud to be partnered with Brisbane Boarding Kennels and Cattery, one of Brisbane’s best-loved kennels for dogs and cats alike, whose ground we share in Narangba.
Our mission is to provide a fun, safe and accommodating doggy care that improves their long-term health and well-being of all dogs.
Our swimming pool & facilities
We are fortunate enough to have a 19m swimming pool on our property which our K9 Adventure Campers have exclusive, daily access to. We are the only dog day care in North Brisbane with a swimming pool, making us the perfect choice for giving your dog a day of Adventure.
Our outdoor play-yard was designed with your pup’s safety, comfort and development in mind.
colourful equipment, all built from dog friendly materials, lets dogs practice their agility in an eco-friendly way
the raised platform keeps them on their toes (literally!) and provides varying textures for all kinds of weather
secure fencing stops even the most boisterous of pups from escaping
a ring-fence of native trees provides plenty of shade for those warmer summer days
Our processes
We structure our processes around the four E’s of Excellence - Environment, Evaluation, Education and Excellent Operations.
-
Environment
We have designed our facility to focus on dog safety. This includes large, open yards that when coupled with our 1:8 group size means more space per dog. Spacious and secure rest areas for each dog or family of dogs. Seperate yards for large and small dogs. Double gated entry and exit points creating an extra layer of security for your dogs.
-
Evaluation
Not every dog is suitable for daycare. All dogs coming to K9 and Co must first complete a Temperament Form that is assessed by our team. Once passed, they are required to undertake a Behavioural Assessment. This assessment evaluates your dogs Human Interaction Responses, Dog Communication Skills, Body Language, Dog Greeting Behaviours and more. Click here to learn about Behavioural Assessments.
-
Education
We provide a set of mandatory and optional training courses for our staff. This ensures that our team have a common basic foundation of dog knowledge so they can safely interact and handle dogs as well as a comon foundation for understanding group play before they are put in a position to monitor group play.
-
Excellent Operations
We have detailed Standard Operation Procedures focussing on the physical safety and emotional well-being of all dogs attending K9 and Co. We ensure all dogs attending have an up-to-date C5 vaccination and regularly disinfect our equipment to minimise the risk of disease transfer.
